Chickers project is a one week project led by Prof. Birgit Mager who has numerous publications on Service Design.

We searched innovative solutions for a wicked social problem on the topic "food". To do that, we created "savage services" - doing things a bit wild in order to spark change. Because design is not all about making beautiful things but fulfilling users needs. First of all we did a background research, got customer insights and understood roots of the problem. We found out that one of the biggest issue in the food industry today is food safety. Chemical treatments with compounds such as peracetic acid are among the most effective methods for control of microbial contamination. These chemicals are legalized since they didn't cause any side effects on people yet. Which undesirable effects they they cause in the future is unknown. People are not conscious about what they eat. Since any design will have a lasting effect in the system, we created the Chickers Project to attract attention of people on this issue.  

Chickers Project aims at empowering people to be aware and more in control about the food that goes to their tables.
